However, if a score of is reached in any game (deuce), then each server serves only one point at a time until one player wins two points in a row. In the final game (i.e., 5th game of a 3/5 match), the players switch sides again after EITHER player reaches 5 points and then play resumes as normal. We are striving to make this as affordable as possible and are one of the least expensive table tennis clubs in the country. This also means that if you do not pay you will not be able to play. After a brief warmup (generally 2-5 minutes maximum), the players “choose” the server.
For youth athletes that wish to continue with our training and direction, we provide three services. A match is generally played best 3 of 5 games (or occasionaly 4/7 or 5/9). For each game, the first player to reach 11 points wins that game.
Junior Program
Park ONLY in the designated spaces and DO NOT double park. The Charlotte Table Tennis Club meets at First United Methodist Church in uptown Charlotte. We use the door on the north side of the church toward the back, between the small surface parking lot and the playground. We have partnered with the Charlotte Table Tennis Club and their 30 year presence in the community. When we met they were lacking a strong development program for their club members. Together we were able to succeed in meeting both our missions.
Detailed lesson plans and player progress tracking allow us to bring in more educators and trainers as needed. The levels give players defined goals that are attained by their own design and labor. They choose how much training between each education session. Each player, educator, and trainer knows where they are in a linear developmental program so progress from any starting point can be made quickly. Level 1
PARKINGPreferred parking is in the 525 N Tryon garage – the entrance is on 9th street. Park in any space that is not numbered or does not say Reserved. Bring the ticket in to validate at the scanner on the 2nd floor. Use the elevator that says Child Development Center and Church Offices. Go up to level ⭐️ P and follow the ping pong paddle signs. Tickets often need to be scanned twice – make sure you get the green message and not the red message after scanning.
